Data Handling
Reliable ingestion, processing, and transformation of African data.
Ingestion pipelines
We connect to African exchanges, statistical offices, commodity markets, and data vendors across the continent. Our ingestion pipelines handle multiple protocols, formats, and languages. Data is normalized, validated, and enriched at ingestion to ensure consistency across all 54 African countries.
Data normalization
African data comes in diverse formats, currencies, languages, and standards. We normalize:
- Currencies — Convert to standardized formats (USD, EUR, local currencies)
- Languages — Support for Arabic, French, English, Portuguese, Swahili, and more
- Date formats — Standardize across different regional conventions
- Geographic codes — ISO 3166-1 alpha-2/alpha-3, UN M49, and local codes
- Units of measure — Metric, imperial, and local units
Data validation and quality
Every data point is validated against schemas, business rules, and historical patterns. We flag anomalies, missing values, and inconsistencies. Quality scores and confidence metrics are attached to each dataset, so you know the reliability of the data you're consuming.
Transformation and enrichment
Built-in transformation pipelines join, aggregate, and enrich data. We add geographic hierarchies (country → region → sub-region), time-series aggregations, and derived metrics. Custom transformations can be configured without code for common use cases.
Real-time processing
Market data, commodity prices, and event feeds are processed in real-time with sub-second latency. Our streaming infrastructure handles high-volume updates from African exchanges and markets, ensuring you get the latest data as soon as it's available.
Data lineage and provenance
Complete data lineage tracking shows where data came from, how it was transformed, and when it was updated. This is essential for compliance, debugging, and understanding data quality across African sources.
Error handling and recovery
Automated retry logic, dead-letter queues, and alerting ensure data pipelines recover from failures. We monitor ingestion health across all African data sources and notify you of any issues or delays.
